That’s the money carrying them right now. That money, Oriard said, they put in a local credit union. The company then offered a 40 percent off sale, selling through much of its inventory of books and characters in just 24 hours. “The cash held there was our capital that enabled us to operate the business, continue to launch new collections and content and develop the tools and resources that are being loved by so many children, families and schools,” read the Instagram post. The now infamous bank collapsed on Friday, leaving those with money held there unable to access their funds. The majority of the company’s cash was held at Silicon Valley Bank, the Vancouver-based company said in the social media post. In the company’s Instagram account over the weekend, the Slumberkins team posted that they were practicing the skills they encourage in their books and content “as our world turned upside down behind the scenes here at Slumberkins.” When their flight home landed, they were immediately in crisis mode. “It collapsed while we were on the plane,” said Oriard. But the bank’s systems were down and the Slumberkins team couldn’t get through to anyone at the bank. They, along with many account holders, tried to withdraw their money from the bank the day preceding its fall. “It just escalated very quickly,” she said. Oriard said her immediate response was to think it wouldn’t be a big deal and to not panic. The local educators-turned-entrepreneurs, co-chief executives and co-founders of the children’s company Slumberkins, had been in New York when they started hearing rumblings from their team and investors about a potential collapse of the bank. Their company’s money was held in Silicon Valley Bank - the bank that had just collapsed. or someone really sick, someone like my Rick.Kelly Oriard and Callie Christensen were midflight when they caught word that their business world was in disarray. Six girls in college, maybe seven." - Sam I'm the only man in America who's getting laid this weekend and I haven't been laid that much. It's the 1990's and nobody's getting laid. You want to be in love in a movie." - Becky "That's your problem! You don't want to be in love. I just want somebody I can have a decent conversation with over dinner." - Sam "Verbal ability is a highly overrated thing in a guy, and it's our pathetic need for it that gets us into so much trouble." - Becky I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew it. It was like coming home, only to no home I'd ever known. "It was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together, and I knew it. "I am not going to New York to meet some woman who could be a crazy, sick lunatic. Whereas if it's just a drink, if you like them you can always ask them to dinner, but if not you can just say, "Well, that was great," and then you go home, if you see what I mean." - Sam Not necessarily on the first date, because halfway through dinner you could be really sorry you asked them to dinner.
